Artist's Statement
Painting is my passion. I started a number of years ago and expected it to be a passing fad as all my previous hobbies had been only to find painting took over my life. I have recently retired to pursue painting more seriously. I work mostly in oil or soft pastel but also enjoy watercolor. My goal is to paint every day and I try to have at least one learning experience weekly whether it's a paint out (plein air), a life drawing session, a workshop, mini workshop, or reading a new book on art. I feel I will be learning about art for the rest of my life. Having always been passionate about learning new things, I am so grateful to have found something I enjoy so much which has unlimited potential for growth and improvement.

Description 
Josephine, my mother's cat which I inherited, now owns me. She is very much master of her domain. This sold to my cousin's daughter's son. He remembers fondly visiting his great, great aunt and her lovely cat when he was a little boy.

Description
This was the first of several renditions of the Salt Wash that runs next to the Wolf Ranch cabin in Arches National Park in Utah. I loved the complementary colors in the landscape so I painted several of these. This one remains my favorite.

This handsome fellow was showing off at a coop on the Austin Chicken Coop Tour. Yes, there is an annual Chicken Coop Tour of Austin. It was lots of fun, and we saw some great coops.

I love painting birds. This one came from Galveston. I took the photo last year in April when I was down there to work a triathlon.
